Things to Remember When Staining Renewal by Andersen® Windows

It’s important to follow the window staining method recommended by the manufacturer. Applying the stain improperly can damage the product and void its warranty.

In today’s post, your leading provider of replacement windows, Renewal by Andersen® of Central Pennsylvania, discusses the proper way to stain Andersen® products.

Staining Renewal by Andersen® Products

Most Renewal by Andersen products come in an interior veneer finish applied on top of the Fibrex® material. This is the only part of the window recommended for staining. Your window can sustain permanent damage if the stain is applied to the Fibrex composite. The warranty may be voided as well.

It’s best to obtain the materials from a full-service paint and stain dealer instead of a multi-service retailer. This ensures that the dealer is knowledgeable about the proper materials and supplies you need for staining your windows.

Things to Remember

Make sure all stains and finishes are away from children and pets because they can be harmful with improper handling. Stain and finish your windows in 30 days after installation. This will prevent marring and discoloration from dust, moisture or fingerprints.

Prepare all the materials you’ll need before staining. Practice the staining and finishing instructions from start-to-finish on a natural wood veneered sample before staining the actual window. You can get in touch with your local Renewal by Andersen representative for samples.

Always follow the manufacturer’s drying time and clean-up recommendations for stains, cleaners and finishes. For liquid products, we recommend purchasing the pint or quarter size, depending on how much coating you need for your stain.

Only use top-grade finishes and stains, as our products are created with the utmost care and precision.  At Renewal by Andersen of Central Pennsylvania, we are your leading provider of doors and windows.
