Picture and Combination Windows
Picture windows “frame” the view you see out your window. Picture windows feature the maximum glass area available in replacement windows, creating perfect pictures from your prettiest views.
Picture windows do not open like sliding windows, but you can add a combination window to the sides of your picture window to provide ventilation.
Most picture windows our customers choose feature a large unobstructed pane in the center, with a combination of two or more “openable” windows on the sides.

Picture Windows Fill Large Spaces
Picture windows get their name from their effect: their window construction makes the view look just like a picture.
If you have a very large space with a spectacular view, a picture window would most likely be perfect for you. Just like custom windows and sliding windows, picture windows allow a great deal of natural light to enter your space.
One thing to keep in mind: Renewal by Andersen picture windows do not open. In order to ventilate your room, you’ll need to “flank” your picture window with combination windows that can be opened.
Combination Windows Ventilate the Room
While picture windows transform your wall into a picture frame that highlights your best views, you’ll probably want to open the windows in that room at some point.
Solve this problem by placing combination windows on either side of your picture window. Your view will be preserved, and the room will be ventilated as well.

Grille Types
Interior wood grilles
Hardwood grilles snap into clips on sash interior and remove easily for glass cleaning. Contemporary or classic profiles in two widths.
Grilles-between-the-glass
Pre-finished aluminum grilles permanently installed to provide the quick glass cleaning of a smooth surface. Narrow or wide width.
Full divided light grilles
A visual replication of true divided glass, with a permanently applied exterior Fibrex® material grille, and aluminum space® between the glass, and a removable or permanently applied wood interior grille.

Insect Screens
Insect screens are included standard with every operable window from Renewal by Andersen. Each is lightweight and designed to be easily removed from the inside of your home for easy cleaning. All insect screens are constructed with an aluminum frame and your choice of glass fiber (our standard), aluminum, or our innovative TruScene® insect screens (see below). Half insect screens are available on double-hung windows.
