Some of the World’s Most Famous Windows

Windows do not only allow natural light into your indoor spaces but they also accentuate the features of your exterior. They are a make or break feature in homes and buildings. When properly designed, they could even look like beautiful artworks.

Here are some of the world’s most famous windows.

Oldest Working Window: St. Andrew’s Church, Boxford

In 2010, the oldest working was discovered while performing a renovation in St. Andrew’s Church in Boxford. The window was built 1000 years ago and among the three windows in the UK that predates 1066.

World’s Biggest Windows: Notre Dame Cathedral

Quality replacement windows are not only beautiful but energy-efficient. No matter how large the glass area of the window is, you won’t need to worry about outside temperatures affecting your interior.  Speaking of large windows, the biggest window in the world can be found at The Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. It measures 12.9 meters in diameter and contains 84 panes of glass. It was built in 1220 AD and still has most of the original and tracery still, making the window look more special.

The Pope’s Windows: Rome

In this window, the Pope can be seen every Sunday at noon where he delivers a short speech and then recites the Angelus prayer. He also says the Apostolic blessings to spectators in Saint Peter’s Square below.

Largest Stained Glass Window

The largest stained glass window in the world is located in The Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois. The structure has 22,000 square feet of breathtaking stained glass.
