Not all windows are created equal! Homeowners often get lost in other decisions such as wall color and carpeting, but there are variety of window glass types to choose from as well, and choosing the right one can be a big decision. With varying costs and different energy rankings, it is easy to get lost when it comes time to choose a window type. Last time, we looked at the difference between single and double pane window glass. Today we’ll look at a newer, more-advanced glass — low-e4.
Low-e4 glass was pioneered by Renewal by Andersen and sets a new standard in glass technology. The glass is easier to clean and goes a long way in cutting energy costs.
What exactly is low-e4 glass? The secret is the coating. Low-e4 glass has a special titanium dioxide coating on the exterior side that is activated by sunlight. The titanium dioxide reduces water spots and helps stop dirt buildup.
While the process behind low-e4 glass is complex, the results aren’t. It reduces up to 99 percent of water spots and can cut energy bills up to 25 percent.
Low e-4 glass is a newer technology, but is still widely used by Renewal by Andersen dealers. In fact, the glass is standard on all RBA windows.
Choosing a protective, energy saving glass like low-e4 can pay big dividends for homeowners.
