Awning windows are called “awning windows” because they open just like an awning: the bottom of the window folds out and the top remains stationary when opened.
The result is a sloped window opening that looks like an awning. Renewal by Andersen awning windows open with a crank at the base of the window.
Casement windows also open using a crank, but they open vertically (like a door), rather than horizontally (like an awning).
The best place to install awning windows is in hard-to-reach areas where opening a traditional double-hung window would be too difficult. This includes:

Renewal by Andersen awning windows can fit almost any size opening. Most find them particularly useful for small, oddly-sized window openings, like:
You can choose from a wide variety of options for color, glass, grille, and handle style in our awning windows.
